Uttarakhand is the state which is situated in the dock of Himalay. It is separated from uttar pradesh on 9th November 2000 with 13 district. Uttarakhand has a total area of 53,483 km2. of which 86% is mountainous and 65% is covered by forest. Uttarakhand is made up of two sections, one is "KUMAU" and other is "GADHWAL". Uttarakhand is also known as "DEVBHUMI". This state gives a huge contribution to INDIAN ARMY.
In Uttarakhand there are lots of Hindu religion temples. Haridwar, Hrishikesh, Kedarnath, Badrinath this places have special importance for Hindus. Two holy rivers of india, which are Ganga and Yamuna are also originated from this state.
Valleys of Himalayan Mountains and snow-covered peaks always attracts the touristers. Uttarakhand are built with lots of tourism places, wild life santurie, and also lots of holy places which always attracts the people to visit it once in their life.

Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand is India’s first and oldest national park. There are 12 National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries covering 13.8 percent of the total area of the state. Nanda Devi Biosphere reserve and Valley of Flowers National Park are UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Fairs and festivals in Uttarakhand :-
Haridwar Kumbh Mela (fair) is a major tourist attraction to the state. Haridwar is one of the four places in India where this takes place. Haridwar also has its big annual fair in the form of Magh Mela in January–February which turns into a bigger event every 6 years in the form of Ardh Magh Mela. Nanda Devi Mela and Nanda Devi Raj Yatra are great festivals of Uttarakhand, famous in all northern India. Nanda Devi Mela and Raj Yatra are the festivals of the goddess Nanda Devi, the bless-giving goddess. Kumaoni Holi a regional variant of the Hindu festival of Holi is also very well known.
